Once there lived a shepherd on the outskirts of Paris. He was very well known for kind and caring heart. He loved to wander in fields; consequently he left his family and became a shepherd.
Right from his childhood, He would watch his maternal uncle, taking out his sheep and going on a walk through the brightest sun and even through the heavy rains. He just got overwhelmed with the affection that sheep showed to his uncle by licking his hand, he just started thinking of the sheep as the most noble and innocent creature on the planet.
So when he grew up and was supposed to take up the family business, He bluntly told his father,"I’m going to be a shepherd, that’s what I have always dreamed of!" Taken aback by such a rude reply, his father banished him out of the house. With an amalgam of feelings, he left the house to take up a new path of his life. He headed straight to his uncle and joined him and his flock of sheep.
With time, His uncle died leaving him as his successor. So he was their new master, he would take them out twice a day and would shave their wool off very carefully. But one day, one sheep realized how unfair it was to get shaved to nudity in return of grass that grew almost at no
cost to his master. He knew the grass grew naturally in the fields and his master, who had not invested anything in those grasses, would feed him on it just because he provided his master with wool. He felt they were being unfairly treated by their master. So he made every single
sheep in flock, realize that thing. A handful of sheep woke late in night and decided that they would collect the flock next night and get out of there at the very first of the opportunity.
Next morning, when this idea was conveyed to the flock, a handful of sheep didn’t agree. They argued that going out can be fatal and the surrounding woods and its wild animals pose a threat to their life. So they decided to back off the movement. Rest made up their minds to
move out at the earliest.
So at the very first opportunity, A huge wave of sheep moved out of the farm and inexorably spread in the surrounding field, while 5 sheep just watched them attain their freedom. The free herd moved towards the forest at their best of the speeds. As the shepherd noticed this,
he ran into the wide fields and tried to grab sheep. With best of his attempt, he just grabbed 4 of them and just stood looking helplessly at the rest of them flowing into the woods.
As the sun went down, they collected near a cave and tried to find some shelter for the night. But no one knew that the night was destined to be the longest night. As they found their shelter, they took their place and sat down to rest and to take some sleep. But they didn’t know, and soon came to know, what wilderness the forest held within it. A pack of wolves attacked them very soon. The sheep ran for their lives but no one was spared. Soon the wolves were joined by other wolves. They had a feast in unity.
As escaped sheep died, the 9 sheep slept in peace at their farm.
It’s important to undo the wrong things, to get a fair treatment, but there is always a right way and a wrong way to do it. We humans, behave like sheep, we just follow what few of us, may say to be correct. But we hardly utilize the intelligence that has been bestowed upon us by the Almighty. We have to first identify the right way to make things right. We may adopt the wrong way but we have to bear in mind that the future is going to come with some terribly unpleasant consequences. None like salvation, I don’t justify the salvation. The sheep had no choice; they could either get shaved to nudity or accept death. But We have a choice of looking at the things ,from our rational perspective, analyzing the situation and then finding the best and the most intelligent path of making things right.
We live in a democratic set up, here We are allowed to voice our needs and demand. But to turn Democracy into Mobocracy, Its like inviting hundreds of troubles. I support the cause that Anna Hazare has, but somehow my thoughts are bit different on the issue. To fast(and NOT a fast-unto-death) ,in order to make government realize that we, the people of India, are in need of more strict rules against corruption, it seems alright to me. But once heard, We should let them go through whatever process they have to bring in such bills.
Just give it a thought, if Government accepts this just because Anna Hazare went on fast unto death and whole country was protesting, then the people who want reservation or who want a separate state would set the states on fire. Just have a look at what they have done in past, and then imagine with Govt's positive response towards Mobocracy,what measures these people will resort to?
